How to choose your safe?

Choosing a safe depends on various elements.

First of all, you have to ask yourself what you plan to put in safety in the safe (values, jewelry, documents, backups).

It will then be necessary to determine the volume necessary for the storage of all of these goods. It is important to emphasize that the installation of a safe generally takes place over time. So plan a storage volume greater than your current need. This will allow you to secure new goods that you have not yet thought about.

Once the volume is chosen, it's time to determine the type of lock you want to install on your fireproof safe or cabinet. We invite you to contact one of our advisers here so that the latter can assist you in this choice (mechanical or electronic).

Techno Safe's advisers will present you with the precise characteristics of the product that meets your needs based on their quality of resistance to burglary and fire.

Hiring a safe professional is essential  for several reasons.

Techno Safe has however isolated 3 major reasons why any customer wishing to install a safe at home or at his workplace should call a professional.

Reason 1: The board

The safe is an intimate and specific product. We are on what is called a niche. Few professionals have the skills and know-how to bring you the right choice. We are not talking about knowing the safe here and there. We are talking about specialized professionals who install several safes per month, and who therefore have the human, technical structures and know-how so that you are equipped with the safe that meets your needs, and which protects you in the long term .

Reason 2: Installation

The choice of a safe also depends on these installation conditions. We are talking about products that can weigh several hundred kilos. It is therefore important to check in advance that the installation conditions are in accordance with the placement of the product. Otherwise, we may be exposed to the impossibility of installing the safe, and therefore to additional costs (twisted product, new delivery, shipping costs). On this point also the use of the services of an approved professional safe seems to be essential.

Reason 3: Monitoring

The safe is a reliable and resistant product which can however also meet boring situations. These  situations, although unusual, can happen, and it is therefore important that a professional can provide you with information to encourage you to adopt the right behavior and not to react. Here we can take the example of a forgotten combination, loss of keys, or even a discharged battery. It can happen at the wrong time and what if we have to collect our passports to go on trips when our safe cannot be opened.

Choose your safe

Choose the right safe: Techno Safe is with you!

Techno Safe provides its know-how to help you choose the right safe.

This guide is composed of 5 steps in order to fully understand the issues during a purchase.

EN 14450: European standard reserved for the domestic safe.

EN 1143-1: European standard against theft. This standard guarantees the quality of your safe.

Attention: A safe must be attached to be approved by your insurance.

The 5 steps to choose your safe:

Step 1: Your profile

The needs of an individual are different from the needs of a business. It is therefore necessary to choose the most suitable safe for your use (choice of protection, choice of lock and choice of location).

Step 2: The volume

It is important to take into account the current need, while providing additional space of 20 to 50% for future years.

Step 3: Weight

The weight of the safe is to be taken into account because it will determine the place of installation of your product. To be installed in optimal conditions, your safe must be placed on a concrete slab or against a load-bearing wall.

This safe will then be fixed to the floor, back or both to avoid any risk of removal.

Step 4: Flight and / or fire approval

This criterion is necessary to define the resistance level of your safe.

All approved safes have theft resistance labels (ECB.S, VDS, A2P). See the technical sheet

Depending on your use, some safes can also  offer approved fire protection.

Step 5: The lock

Different types of closures are available on the safes.

Key lock:  Why choose a key lock?

The key lock is the most traditional way of opening a safe. However, it tends to be gradually replaced by code closure. Indeed, the code lock offers appreciable user comfort (no key management).

The use of a key lock remains relevant in certain cases, however:

Case 1: You are reluctant to use electronics. Some of our customers prefer mechanics. We respect and encourage them to be comfortable with their choices and feelings.

Case 2: You camp to install your safe in a humid environment. It seems relevant here to remove the breakdowns that an electronic lock could experience in an unsuitable environment (humid, too hot, too cold).

Case 3: You want to optimize your budget. The key lock is indeed cheaper than the electronic lock.

Disadvantage: Key management

As we often say, the safe is an intimate product. We are here to advise you while respecting the nature and the reasons of your choice.

Mechanical lock:

Advantage: Economic.

Disadvantage: Be precise in handling otherwise you will have to repeat the operation several times.

Electronic lock:  Why choose an electronic lock?

The electronic lock has several advantages when closing your safe.

Advantage 1: The electronic lock allows you not to have the key to the safe with you.

Benefit 2: You do not risk losing or breaking the key, which would incur additional costs.

Advantage 3: You can define different codes depending on the users, and have a history of openings if you wish (option).

Advantage 5: In case of 3 false codes, your lock will go into security mode. It will then take a while to submit a new code.

Advantage 5: The electronic lock is reliable and its use is very pleasant.

Disadvantages: Change of battery every 2 years.

The use of your safe determines the choice of your lock.

Example: If several employees handle the safe, it is recommended to equip yourself with an electronic lock to avoid management or loss of keys.

Choose your strong cabinet

Choose the right wardrobe: Techno Safe is with you!

Techno Safe puts its know-how at your disposal to help you choose the right cabinet.

The strong cabinet (or armored cabinet) often offers the best alternative to the secure storage of paper documents, or valuable materials (computer, photographic, or other).

This guide is composed of 5 steps in order to fully understand the issues during a purchase.

The 5 steps to choose your strong cabinet:

Step 1: Your use

The need for a strong cabinet is different whether you are a company, an individual, or an administration. This parameter will influence the resistance level of your strong cabinet, the type of closure, or even the volume that you will choose.

Step 2: The volume of the cabinet

Strong cabinets are available in different volumes. It is therefore essential to clearly identify the real need for storage.

(Filing cabinets, hanging files, extendable shelves, indoor safety box ...)

Step 3: The lock

Different types of closures are available on the safes.

Key lock:  Why choose a key lock?

The key lock is the most traditional way of opening a safe. However, it tends to be gradually replaced by code closure. Indeed, the code lock offers appreciable user comfort (no key management).

The electronic lock has several advantages when closing your safe.

Advantage 1: The electronic lock allows you not to have the key to the safe with you.

Advantage 2: You do not risk losing or breaking the key, which would incur additional costs.

Disadvantages: Change of battery every 2 years.

The use of your safe determines the choice of your lock.

Example: If several employees handle the safe, it is recommended to equip yourself with an electronic lock to avoid management or loss of keys.

Step 4: The degree of resistance

Several resistance levels are  available:

Single wall strong cabinet

Strong double wall cabinet

Strong double-walled cabinet with fire-resistant insulation between the walls

Strong theft + fire cabinet certified according to European standards

Step 5: The location

The weight of strong cabinets varies depending on the model and the level of resistance. You can therefore think of installing your strong cabinet in a place of your choice.

Finally, remember not to overload your wardrobe too much if you decide to place it on a mezzanine or light floor support.
